i have a automatic 95 camero v6 and a while back i got parked my car got out looked back and my car was rolling back wards i jumped in throught the window and pulled the e brake scince that day it doesnt grab park i used to be able to push the shifter as forward into park as i could and it would grab it now it doesnt go into park the shifter is in park but it seems like the tranny is in netrual. i dont think its the tranny does any body have an idea what it could be or how to fix it?

 

I dont see how it couldn't be the tranny, or at least related to the tranny. I mean its possible it could be something else, but I doubt it. Check the fluid in the tranny, I think you are low and need to refull it, also it might need to be flushed. You might want to invest in a Camaro repair manual.

 

Could have damaged the "parking gear pawl", especially if you jammed the lever in park while the car is still moving, or the shift mechanism is out of whack.

 

Check the shifter cable, it may have a place where you can adjust it. Sounds like it could be the problem. You can try shifting into park manually from under the car but chock wheels or use E-brake for sure. Jeff

 

id say its the shifter linkage. lucky for you, your hand brake works. mine barely does, and its all new parts too. ive had to jam mine into park before, and all it did was kinda grind to a stop. i rolled my car with the engine off at the lineup at the strip. brakes dont work without the engine on

 

well i got my problem fis it was a just un adjustment on the side of the tranny but got it fixed thanks
