To pick the best is to sell the 3.4L and get a 3.8L or better -- sorry, but the 3.4L is a turd for performance -- had one, would not recommend one to someone who wants to squeeze out more power.

There is no such thing as the best CAM. Cams are all about give and take. To get something you are going to give something up. Big Cams will give you the best Dyno sheet in most cases but you will give up torque at lower RPM. You may be able to hit 180 RWHP at 5500 RPMs but when you try to past someone at on the highway at 70 MPH your car would be slower then it currently is.

Almost every person I have helped in the real world that started with “I want the most power possible” ends up changing the CAM to a more “middle of the road” CAM that does not kill lower end toque.

If you buy a bigger CAM that requires Higher RPMs to make HP and you do not have enough intake and exhaust flow you can end up with less HP. The heads are a choke point or we could say the funnel on the 3.4. You can port and polish them to make them better but they will always be you limiting factor.

Getting a 3.4 to the power of a 3800 is tuff even with NO2. NO2 will charge the cylinder but it does not help with the exhaust side so the heads even limit the effect of NO2.
Think real hard before sticking a lot of money in a 3.4 you can make it faster but no matter what you do you can still be out run by a 2003 Minivan. Just the other Day I saw a 1995 LT1 6 Speed that needed and air bag and front clip for $1500.

Well, you COULD go with something like this…

BOV

"Custom 3.4L Turbo Kit

Specifications:

Modified RKsport Headers

Custom y pipe

custom down pipe

custom ic piping

custom 30x12x4 intercooler

Master Power T70 Turbocharger

Delta Gate 38mm Wastegate

Tial 50mm Bov

Results:

The kit performed flawlessly and made ~350 rwhp and~400 rwtq on very low boost.

the 3.4 motor still being stock with stock engine management didn't like that very much.

The only path forward was to build the motor and install a megasquirt EMS, but instead it was decided to swap the car into a LSX powerlant. I had enough fun experimenting with the v6 turbo and it was time to move on."

And after all that, the guy still wasn't happy enough. You have to have quite an emotional attachment to put a lot of bucks into your V6 car, and have more invested than what an equivalent performing Z28 would cost. The thing is guys usually do it in stages; save up to put on headers, then exhaust, then engine goodies, then.... I've been there too, had a 94 3.4. I really really liked that car, but I knew it was never going to be what I wanted it to be. When the wife blew my doors off with her Chrysler minivan, I went shopping for a Z28.
