Wheel studs broke, take off rear end????
My wheel studs broke on my 96 camaro Z28. In order to take the off you have to take the entire rear differential axle off. SO no I have to take the rear end cover off and take off a c clamp to slip the shaft off so I can get to it. I cant find the c clamps? Any help out there. Rear end is stock.
I had this happen once and they slid out the back side. I hit it with a hammer and it loosend up and came outDunno if its the same for your year though.
You can remove it with the axle in place if you have the right tool. Looks like a big C clamp with an open end to allow the bolt to be pushed though. May be able to borrow one from AutoZone or Pep Boys. Or, you can go to just about any tire shop and they can fix you up in about 15 minutes. They specialize in breaking wheel bolts.
yea, you should be able to either push em out or knock em out. ive seen em put in before, and its generally the same for every car. itd bee to much work to have to take the axel of to put em in. so its nonsense to have to take the axel off to take em off. when they put em in they stick em through and torque a bolt on with an impact wrench. if i remember correctly.
