What the hell happened to my car!?
2001 3800 zero modifications, aside from ceramic brake pads, aftermarket stereo deck and an intake baffler removal.
Please help me fix my baby!
Short story:
Car is parked, rarely starts, when it does I get no throttle response and I get reduced engine power light, idle jumps between 1300-1600 and chokes out and dies after roughly 30 seconds.
Electronic throttle body
Just had a stereo put in earlier that day
Electrical problem?
I've read that the reduced engine power light could be a fuel line pressure issue.
2 weeks ago I heard my fuel pump kick on when I turned the key, but now I don't.
Checked my fuel pressure lines, I don't have any pressure at all.
Fuel pump, maybe clogged filter?
Anyways Sorry I didn't make the short version very short haha.
Full story:
My stereo wouldn't turn on, the person who put it in had messed something up because he hardwired it instead of using a wiring harness.
I don't know anything about the electrical stuff, so I had best buy put in a stereo.
Car runs fine, I finally have sound.
About midnight that night my car dies.
I'm just cruising along and my throttle cuts out, feels like I ran out of gas, zero throttle response.
So I guide my car to the side of the curb and walk to the gas station.
I put 1 gallon in and try to start it, it does nothing.
2 gallons, starts instantly dies.
I decided I'll walk back and forth and put 2 more gallons in without trying to start it.
When I put 4 gallons in, my car starts, and drives about 100 yards.
It drives far enough to give me hope that I was going to make it home that night.
Then the same thing happens, feels like I ran out of gas, throttle cuts out, car dies.
Can't get it to start again that night, so I gave up and got a ride home and towed it the next day.
Now it's been sitting in the parking lot for 2 weeks, as I went TDY and was unable to do anything with it.
So I go out there and try to start it yesterday, battery is dead.
I jump it and car fires up, I get no throttle response and I get a light that says "reduced engine power" It idles around 1300-1600 and jumps between there.
I do have the electronic throttle body so the cable isn't the cause of the no throttle response.
Any ideas?
Could best buy be the issue here or did something conveniently go out after they worked on my car?

scan for trouble codes and let us know what comes up. it could be a number of things and throwing parts at it can get spendy. could be wiring problem, fuel pump, ignition module etc
