water pump issues
Just to add to this. Make sure when you change the water pump that you dont disturb the seal around the Timing Chain cover cause if that goes you will have antifreeze in your oil. A special tool and set of instructions that comes with some water pumps keeps the seal intacted while taking off the Water pump. Some bolts for the water pump also are for the Timing chain cover and go right through to the block. Watch out no to strip the bolt holes as I did and it wasnt a prety picture. (Small Bolts) This is for my 85 Camaro V6. And Yes "The Right Stuff" Sealent Works awesome around the ends of the bolts.
Don't over do the thread sealant. RTV ( Room Temperature Vulcanizing ) and Silicone are referred to almost as the same thing. Many people call RTV Silicone. So don't be confused about it. Get Black RTV ( usually works for about anything ) for non exhaust temperature areas and Red RTV for extreme heat. Make sure the surfaces ( gasket areas ) are super clean. Put a thin layer on the mounting surfaces and a line down the threads of the bolt. It will seal fine. Make sure to use new gaskets and seals every time. Don't try to re use them.
first of all did you clean the surface good and did you put a sealant on the gasket? i also sure the cooper on water pumps and a thread sealant on the boilts--if you did all this and it still leaks put in a can of bars leak if it still leaks you may have a hair crack on the surface where the pump attaches to the motor
