Default upgrading to 17 inch rims

I want to go to 17 inch rims in my Camaro but will I have to mess with the speedometer? What do I have to do to make it work?

Nothing, if you just go up +1. For example:If you go from 16'" wheels & 245/50 tires to17" wheels and 245/45/17 tires requires no change in the speedometer. The wheel & tire height did not change.

Just use a lower profile tire that matches the diameter of tire you have now.
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
Type in your tire size now and the size you want and any optional sizes and it will show all the different measurments and a general idea of what your speedo will read with the different sizes.

To keep the same speedo ratio with a 17" wheel you need to run a 275/40/17, of course the aspect ratio varies depending on how wide the tire is, but if you're getting aftermarket wheels you should probably go with a 17X9.5.
