If you want to know if you have a limited slip or open differential.
To check for open diff: put car in Park, lift car & turn one of the wheels. If the other wheel spins in the oppeosite direction you have an open diff. If the other wheel won't turn you may have a limited slip diff
To check for limited slip diff: put car in neutral, spin one of the wheels. If the other wheel spins in the same direction you have a limited slip diff.
If you want to know the gear ratio:
There may be a tag attached to the axle. Or remove rear cover and ratio may be stamped on pinion gear. Or remove rear cover and actually count the number of theet on the ring gear, and divide it by the number of theet on the pinion gear. Or count the nuber of turns the driveshaft takes to complete one turn of the wheels, not a very accurate way.
