Pro Street Camaro Rear End Issues
Hello everyone,
I was looking for a bit of advice on an issue I am having with my rear end setup.
Here's what I'm working with: I have a 1978 Z28 Pro Street with a Ford 9" Rear End that's tubber and narrowed w/ 4.88 gears (no locker), 15 inch Weld Alumastar rims in the back with 33x21.5 inch tires, with a Muncie M22 Rockcrusher Transmission, with a 468 big block making in the area of 650 hp and 640 ft pounds of torque.
Here's My Issue: My rear end went on me. I'm getting many different opinions on how to fix it and what parts to use.
Here's What My Goal is: This is a street car, this car is NOT raced. I use it for hobby purpose such as cruises or going to shows. I do drive hard on the street sometimes and I like to enjoy the car and the power that it has. I never launch the car hard off a traffic light or from a deadstop and I never do burnouts or smokeshows. I occasionally will get on the car and go through the gears hard. I am looking for the best possible setup so that I can minimize the chances of this happening again.
I'm looking for opinions, advice and options here and I appreciate the help. This is my first time dealing with the issue of having a high hp/tq car with the tire size that it has in the rear and it being a street car! Thanks for everyone's time!!
