Default Piston ?

Hey guys i have a question for everyone. My friend said he just got a set of pistons and he isnt going to use them so he is going to give them to me. they are 12-1 pistons so im thinking of while of doing this im going to go ahead and put aluminium heads on my new motor too. So my question is can i run 50/50 gas. 93 and 115 or is that not enough .

[&:] that should be plenty of octane so detonation shouldnt be an issue but be sure to listen for it and adjust timing accordingly. is the rest of the engine built for that type of compression?? remember that engine should be thought of as a package where the sum of the parts work togather or the results you seek may be disapointing kurt

If you have a stock cam keep asharp ear for detonation, especially at lower RPM. If you go with a longer duration cam. It will allow to blow off some of thatpressure at low RPM and help to avoid detonation. You can usually control detonation by retarding the spark, but that creates a power loss, defeating the whole purpose. Being that you are going to better heads, you should go with a matching cam anyways. Check with a cam company.
