Has anyone replaced one of these. I recently did and since I repaced the opti spark it will not start. I have contacted my local dealership told him what I have done so far and he suggested to change the plugs. I did check the oil and I do have approximately one quart of gas in the oil pan from trying to start the engine. All it does is goes poof poof etc, occassionally it backfires.

I have a 1995 trans am with a 5.7 litre engine, I installed a accel opti spark. I have changed the coil, plug wires, ICM module. There isa smell of gas, it is a pain to take out all the plugs and re install them. options anyone. Yes I amsure the opti spark is in correctly, it slid right in, not real gap between it and the block when pushed in. It tightened without any problem.

If the car worked before you molested it, you either have bad parts, or something went in there wrong. Make sure the drive pin on the cam engaged the opti, it can go in without engaging.

 

Thanks fixed the problem rechecked the alignment of the dowel pin, works fine now.
