Default ok..probably asked 1000 times..trunk pull down

I just bought a 1985 iroc Z. The truck pull down doesn't work. What do I look for? The trunk was latched till I opened it now it won't close. Is it always hot, or is ignition on?Are they a pain to fix, whats involve motor and relay? Thanks

Matt, have you done a search on this site? I know this subject has been covered more than once.

The older Mustangs had the oval in the front, from what I've seen in the mirror. Must be what DC was referring to. Do the newer ones have it on the back? I've never been behind a Mustang on the road before, so I can't say. And doesn't that leave a mark on the palm of your hand while pushing the car?

This happened to me about a year ago. I took the plastic panels off and you can then access the motor for the pull down. I unplugged the power and just plugged it back in. It did a reset and the motor has worked fine ever since. It might work for you too.

Does the motor run but not pull the hatch in? I had this happen with my 1987. I was able to buy the nylon gear and parts through the dealer. It was easy to pull apart but I would advise taking pictures before, and while, you're doing it.

My car might be doin the same thing. the problem is it will sometimes suck down like i closed the trunk even when i didn't so when i actually do it won't catch. i thought there was something seriously wrong at first but if you push down on the latch it will release and the motor will rise up. then you can close and it will latch right.
