i know a lot of parts are used in different years at the factory. and it could be its been changed. dont get to uptight about it. do a background seach on the vin on the net. u should be able to see were the cars been.

 

You sure someone did not just do a engine swap? A 91 computer will not work with an 85ignition sytem. I would assume they have the 85 computer in there. These "Junk Yard" swaps are pretty comon. They are also know as Franken cars. Your Vin number should be stamped in the body in a couple of places. I am not sure where else in the 3rd gens most likely somewhere on the inner door jam.

 

I did a carfax on it before i bought it. i wander if i can still access that.

 

Valuable lessons learned. Don't let this guy off the hook. Also, don't overlook the fact that he could have bought the car with the same understanding as you did. I have bought and sold many cars and I will never forget the time I got ripped off on a 442
and it's a sinking feeling.
If he is unwilling to resolve, you have the right to get the authorities involved. Good luck. The next time you purchase a car, make sure you run the VIN# to check for any kind of fraud. Lots of outlets for VIN# verification.
