Hi everyone I am new to the G.M world and need help! I need a daily driver,and am looking into a camaro. I am a long time racer and know my way around a hot rod,but I have never owned a new car(1976 and on!) So which should I get,what kind of performance should I expect,gas milliage etc....I am looking into an automatic car. I saw one locally a 1996 camaro Z28,5.7 with 47,502 miles,its red and in really nice shape.How much is it worth?

This is a tricky question to face, i just anwsered it for myself about 4 months ago. I personally would recomend a first or second generation(1981 and prior), only because they don't have to pass emissions inspection. this leaves much more room for modification and adjustment. though a third gen. has its perks as well. THey won't break down as much and you're shure to pay alot less for one)be warned though the late 2nd generation camaros were seriously anemic with there stock smogger engines, seek out one thats got a crate moter and you're good to go. as far as gas mileage goes just look away, i have an 81' with a 350 and fast burn heads that gets 9miles per gallon (407hp at the rear weels). The camaros from after 1981 were totally restyled and got much better gas mileage. i don't personally know the value of the car you've seen but www.nada.com is a very reliable source for such a question. happy hunting -the mad hatta
