Need some help, possible Freeze Plug issue
I have a '95 Camaro, it goes about 10-20 miles before it needs to have water added to it... I was told this might be an issue with the Freeze Plug? Does that sound right, or could it be something else?
How can I check if it is the Freeze Plug?
Thanks

Thanks!
I know the freeze plug goes bad when the engine block builds to much pressure up, which doesn't sound good... Is that alright? Is there a way to keep the block from building that much pressure?
Thanks again

RE: Need some help, possible Freeze Plug issue
It is not the pressure build up, it is the fact that cheap freeze plugs corrode and leak. Replace them with good brass plugs & your troubles will be solved. Corrosion is the result of having old or insufficient antifreeze in the cooling sytem. Freeze plugs are not installed to prevent the block from cracking if it freezes, although that is what the name implies, but are a means to get the casting sand out of the water jacket during manufacturing. The pressure in the water jacket is controlled and released by the radiator cap. Make sure you find out where the water is coming from before just changing freeze out plugs. Get under the car & take a good look. I had several cars over 200K miles with the original plugs & no leaks.
