Need help with the right gears

Got a 69 Camaro with a 396 BB and 4 speed tranny. Would like to know what is the best gears for the street. It currently has 4:56 gears in it and it is way too low.

That depends on how much highway driving you do. If every once in a while, you'll probably be happy with 3.73's. If you spend more highway time in the car, then 3.55's.

Tire diameter plays into it also. Taller tires will make the gearing more hiway friendly. Keep in mind that changing gears, tire diameter, etc. will probably change the accuracy of your speedometer.
