Default need fast advice (not camaro)

First of all, not the camaro lol. I had to drive my high school senior to college orientation and when I parked (decent incline), low oil light flashed. How "low" does it get for light to come on? It's actually a low oil pressure light but manual says can be low oil to. I'm no where near a place with oil and about 20 miles from home.

If your oil level is fine, you still might NOT be ok since that's also a low oil pressure light. Not a good idea to drive a car with a low oil pressure light on until you know the reason why, which would be either the pressure really is low (excessive internal engine wear) or a faulty gauge/pressure switch. How many miles on the engine?

115,026 miles. 98 cavalier, 1 owner. Oil isn't due for a change but doesn't mean it's not low. I'm still waiting on my son so haven't moved.

Daughter had a 97 Cavalier that I did the wrench work on, so I feel your pain!
Obviously check the oil level first before sweating the worse case scenario.

I think my heart sank lol. This has been my baby for 15 years. Lady Reliable is her nickname. Best car ever on gas. Anyway, 1 qt low and engine looks nasty to me. I see oil coming out of a spark plug. If it's fatal, this is a car that prob won't be getting a motor. Not worth it.

Ours developed a bad head gasket at 78k miles due to a warped head at the passenger side front corner. We never overheated the engine, which can hurt an aluminum head, but have no idea what any previous owner may have done. A shave and a haircut took care of the problem.

Considering I just went through that with the camaro, this has no HG symptoms. Never over heated and we're only owners. Bought it new. Temps have never been past middle of temp gage ever. Coolant is fine. Could it be valve cover gasket? I just can't pour money in this car but I have a second child needing a car in august also.

Don't no much about cavaliers, but by chance does the wire boots plug into the spark plugs through the valve cover? If thats the case that can be the reason why your seeing oil in the spark plug area. there are usually little seals in between the boot and the valve cover that could be worn or broken causing oil to seep through
