RE: manuals
If you have the bux, the best manual is the GM Factory Service Manual, from Helm Inc.

RE: manuals
Were they new? Don't be surprised if when you look in the haynes and it looks the same as the chiltons. I got a new chiltons for a later S10 and it looked excatly like a haynes. I looked inside the front cover and it said "published by haynes north America" It even said on the cover "includes wiring diagrams". It does not. It does have typical diagrams that are worthless.

RE: manuals
[X(] as usual z28 pete renders the best advice, i would strongly recommend the factory manuals that can also be found on ebay for much much less than buying at the dealer. i personally have found much bad information and vagueness in these cheap manuals that try to cover too broad a spectrum. compare factory manual sizes with the chiltons and haynes and youll see the factory ones can be 3-5 times the size for the same vehicle. why?? they contain everything for that exact vehicle. i wouldnt count on either of them telling you exactly how to change spark plugs as they assume the person reading them has some skills but at least the info will be correct in the factory ones kurt

RE: manuals
The old Chilton's had much of the factory information inside. The exact same stuff in the helm manuals. The only problem with that very same info in the Being in the Chilton's is it would give you an area to refer to (because its right out of the helm manual) and the reference would not be in the chilton's. The old Chilton's are big. They have the factory info. The new chilton is small and its a haynes in disguise. The ways I identify the difference in the two. Small and says "Chilton" (no "s") on the cover its a haynes. large and says "Chilton's" Its a good manual with factory info.
