Lost of power/hesitation
Comming home from work the other day something didnt feel right. When I was driving down the highway doing about 60 I could feel a slight hesitation in the pedal (same feeling as running out of gas). I stepped on it and it didnt feel like it had the same power as before. The RPMS was there but not the speed to go with it.
I took a back road that usually has little or no traffic at all and came to a complete stop. I couldnt even get a tweak of a burnout. What could of happend all of a sudden to cause these troubles? Last weekend I changed the plugs, wires. cap and rotor and it ran fine for atleast a week. Can anyone give me some advice on what to check?

OOps its a 68 Camaro with a 77 chevy 350 pickup engine in it. Has the XR-I crane igition conversion in it. I was gonna check the timing but I dont know what degree or rpms information. The book I bought today referred to the sticker on the hood and of course I dont have that sticker its referring too. Any info would be most appreciated.
Ball park figure around 5 to 10 degree advanced @ idle 30 to 35 @ 4000. I assume you are using a carburator. You may want to check the fuel filter , including the one in the carb, and check fuel pressure. Also there is a possibility that the timing chain may have jumped teeth.
I found the culprit. There is one sparkplug that is really close to the headers. The boot on that wire melted causing what I suspect it to arc. I bought header plugs which seemed to help a little. The wire on that plug barely makes contact. It obviously wasnt a problem with my old plug wires I wish I kept them. Anyone recommend a good high temp plug wire?
You can try fiberglass booth protectors, they claim to be good to 1200 deg. Most speed shop carry them, or get them mailorder from Summit or Jegs. About $9.00 each or $50-55 for a set of 8. There are quite a few companies that tmake good hi temp wires, but none claim that they will survive long touching hot headers.
