350 TPI lost power
Hi everyone , I'm new to forum and have joined to hopefully get help with my Camaro .
Firstly , I was out for a drive today car going fine until I passed a truck ,
Hit the gas , car kicked down and took off ok then just as I got passed the truck it lost power and has now got real sluggish ,
Limped home and parked it up , still idling ok but no power when you put foot down,
the car hasn't had a lot of use in the last several years and I haven't owned it long so the TPI model is new to me,
I'm after some pointers to where I should start looking for the problem,
Any help would be great .... cheers

Check your fuel pressure. Your pump may be going out, have a clogged fuel filter, or have a leak somewhere.
Oh, and moved your thread from the V6 to the V8 section.

Idle is decent, no shaking? No check engine lite? Sounds like a plug cat to me. Semi-plugged fuel filter or low fuel pressure can do the same thing but should set a lean code unless the O2s are shot. Dropped cylinder should cause a very noticeable vibration.
IF you are getting some vibration as the car fails a cracked Dis cap or a burned rotor cap are likely causes.

Cheers guys .. yes crook lead/cap firing on all 8 now , I'm still getting the fuel smell which I'm sure is from under the plenum , maybe fuel rails ? Are there kits available for these ? car has a bit of age on it now so may benefit from this

I would recommend the regular tune up things like stated above. I doesn't sound like a fuel leak, because the fuel pump should be able to compensate for that. The fuel pump (feul sending unit, whatever you want to call it), could definitely cause these issues. Not that much fuel is required to idle, but if you hit the gas it needs more, so if there is nothing to back it up it will fall on its face. Always looks at the three needs: spark, fuel, air. If all are there in adequate amounts you shouldn't have any issues. So something is wrong somewhere.
