Default I'm lookin at a camaro...

Recently I drove by a nice looking camaro, and decided to check it out(at this point I knew almost nothing about them). It turned out to be an 88 model, all it needs is a little rust removal and painting, a new windshield and battery. The person who's selling it is asking for $800. Is that asking a lot? Is there anything else I should know or find out before buying it (this will be my first car)?

keep looking, that is pricey, you will find more wrong with it. Plan to put atleast 1000 into it for it to see the road. That is my opinion. I might be wrong buy my 81 was 800 and i have put a easy 1100 into it and its still not there. but I am making mine nice as well. I am not just trying to get it on the road. Chose wisely

$800 is alittle high but it's a unibody car and I have seen afew w/badly rotted rear control arm mounts. Check anything structural for rust and crash damage. You may want to find something newer, it'll be more $$$ but less issues. Just dont buy a rice grinder PLEASE!
