Ya, they have rev limiters, your shouldnt have even been able to get to 7k. Although since you said you were doing donuts, Id bet you spun a bearing.

Unless you got the PCM tuned you shouldn't have been able to go over 6k if even due to the rev limiter. Usually bouncing it a few times won't damage it that bad, never know though. Definitely don't drive it until you get it checked out.

One of the things that gets damaged from over-revvingis the valve train. I wouldn't be surprised if you either bent a push rod, bent a valve, or snapped a rocker arm.

i dont have an auto, but does the rev limiter kick in if the tires are spinning? i had a corolla way back, and on ice i could rev that thing way up, no shifting, no limiter, no nothing.
