Default i need some info.

still looking on the web for all the info i can find of course but i am looking into getting a 1980-1988 camaro and i am trying to findout about any faults call backs and what kindof things to look for when buying one. now i am probally going to get one rather cheap and then slowly turn it into a project car to restore and beef it up of course. so if anyone can add some input in about these 3rd gen camaros and or direct me to some good sites i would greatly appreciate it.</P>

i'll agree with The Hurricane. also, once you get your 3rd gen, check out thirdgenresource.com - they are awesome!

You will deff. want the Z28, if you plan on keeping it especially, look at the classics and you'll see why, it will be worth more later and if you ever sold it you wouldnt have a clone.

It depends on the work you want to do if your more focused on beefing her up under the hood get a Z28 to start off with a great building block. If you want to go all out and get a new engine buy one that the engine is dead already to save money. If you want to customize the interior and go nutz get one the interior sux cus youll have to replace it all. Camaros are awsome cars and for a reson so its worth what ever money you put into it. pretty much figure out what you are going to be doing to the car then try to figure out what you want for a project car. To save money cancel out what you dont need to have in the car since you want to upgrade it.

my 83 came with a 305, and that only lasted a short while..and i put the 350 and got some of the trim pieces for the Z...it looked great, but it never ran right....we tried and tried..and then someone walked into the shop and offered me more money than i paid for it..and it was gone...but the moral of the story is, if youre gonna go low buck, i would try to get a rolling chassis factory V8 car, or a 305 car...maybe something with an engine issue...to keep the cost down.

First off, a 80 or 81 are both 2nd gen camaro's. The best thing to make sure of is rust. Check for floor rust and frame rust. That was the biggest problem with my 81 camaro. I would get a z28 also. I would agree with the others. its nicer than a clone unless you plan to have a blower or a street machine where originality would not matter. Thats my thought. Good luck.

A good place to find cars for cheap are ebay motors
motors.ebay.com
Try that. just look for one in your area. I bought a 80 firebird for 400 on ebay w/ a 350 which was real nice for the money. the guy forgot to set a reserve and I was the only bidder.
Good luck

Once you found the car you like, go on the web and look for Carfax. You give them the VIN and for about $20 they will give you the hystory of the car, such as crashes recalls, how many owners, mileage between inspections, etc.
