do the 500 dollar programmers actually work? i mean like, is there a noticeable difference after you tune the car with one?

Yes because I have one. I found it on craigslist.com for $80. And I took it to the track with me and I programmed the tranny shift points and got better times. Plus their website has dyno number that have given 11 Hp with regular gas and 13Hp with Premium gas.

i think u would b better money spent to do any mods u want done...then do a dyno tune, a hypertech is good for stock autos they don't do much 4 a manaul as for horsepower it give a slit proformance edge but not worth the money i think, when i did my heads cam and exshust i had it dyno tuned perfect or close to it, the hyper tech couldnt help after i did that..... BUT in the short and sweet of it there not worth 300 plus uless ur going to stay stock and u have auto trans but thats just me. ps i have one for sale its 4 a 96-97 lt1 if that helps....

Corvette Magazine just did a test on a '96 LT1 and got a whopping 3hp and 8tq...hmm...100 dollars per HP doesn't sound too great to me, get a good dyno tune it'll be much more worth your time.
