Ok, I have an '81 Camaro that's been sitting A LONG TIME!! I got it started and the gas smells like turpentine. I dropped the tank and drained out the old gas. How do I clean the tank so I can put new gas in it?

 

Is your tank clean looking inside, or is it rusty? If no rust, then just put a little gas in the tank, swish it around, and dump it out. If you take the sending unit off (if you haven't already), you'll be able to reach inside the tank and wipe it out with a rag.
