Default Failed CA smog due to High CO...

I failed CA smog several times now. The first was my carburetor wasn't working right, the second my EGR was hooked up right which failed me in the NO category. And now with my new Edelbrock 1400 carb, failed CO levels again. Here is my ASM Emission test results for the third test:

HC (PPM)
15mph: Max= 137, MEAS= 72
25mph: Max= 114, MEAS= 57

CO (%)
15mph: Max= .89, MEAS= 1.19
25mph: Max= .75, MEAS= .73

NO (PPM)
15mph: Max= 906, MEAS= 298
25mph: Max= 808, MEAS= 272

As you can see, my Carbon Monoxide readings a bit too high. Is there a quick way to lean out the carb? Retarding the timing? Adjusting choke? Anything?
Thanks in advance.

i think your on the right track. need to lean it out just a little bit at low rpms. so less gas in the primaries is what u want. is the choke open all the way at low rpm or idle?

Thanks for responding, Craby. Its an electronic choke and I know it's not hooked right because my dad spliced it with one of the wires coming from the distributor. But, at idle, the choke is somewhat open, maybe 1/5 inch open. And I have no idea what the choke looks like at low RPM. I can check tomorrow. Should I increase the fast idle to let more air in?

i think the wire to the distributor is for power. its electric not electronic so i hope no computer. should have directions on how to adjust the choke. ought to be three screws on the choke unit on the side if u lossen those the outer part should turn, on way to close the choke a litte and the other to open a little. 1400 is a 600 so thats not a real big carb so im thinking try adjusting it but not to far that it wont help when the motors cold. if u have to i think you can get smaller jets for the primaries.

Yes, first make sure the choke is open all the way.
As soon as the throttle blades open, your idle circuit is bypassed, so messing with your external idle screws won't help.
You need to jet down your primaries, as crab man suggested.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll check the choke first and make sure its open all the way...hopefully that fixes things. But if I need to change the jets, I'll buy a kit from Edelbrock.

Quick note: Edelbrock's info on the #1400

Metering Jets - Primary .098, Secondary .095; Metering Rods - .073 x .047; Step-Up Spring - orange (5" Hg)

Are these jets too high? What Jets do you recommend to lower CO levels?
