Default Door Skins Separating on 94 Camaro

My wife and I both have 1994 Camaros and the outer door skins are separating from the inner door. I've tried to find out if someone makes an adhesive that I can glue them back on with, but no luck. Everyone acts like it's some top secret compound. I've called the body shop where I work and some others and they're no help all they want me to do is let them fix it. I just need to find some thing that will work, I've looked through my GM chemical catalog and even called PARTECH and can't get a straight answer. Anyideasso the seat won't keep getting wet when it rains or we wash the cars.
Thanks, Steve

I sure hope someone knows the answer to this one. I'm in the same predicament. Although my problem is because someone tried to break into my car by pulling on the piece. I'm hoping it's something I can do with a beginners knowledge.

Ours is from people repeatedly trying to open the door when it's locked.

Yes there are adhesives. Being in a body shop you should know this. I have done a lot of repair and replacing panels like that and mostly on semi trucks. 3M and SEM makes just about the best. What may be part of the problem is heat breaks down the glue. I would use a heat gun or propane torch to break the glue down to remove the damaged panels. You will need to get in there and scratch up the surface really well for the adhesive to grab onto. Any automotive paint store should have some thing. You can usauly get it in the two tube where you have to mix it or in a package that needs a caulking type gun and has a static mixing tube to mix the adhesives as it passes through.

I know that there has to be something out there. I actually am in the parts department but our body shop here at our dealership won't tell me what to use. I used to work in a body shop at a Cadillac Dealership but that was back in the mid 70's. I have several types of adhesive available through our GM Chemical progam but none of the listings give any details of the type of material it's to be used on. I called our GM Parts Tech Department and they are no help either.

Per the FSM:
Door panels---GM Goodwrench structural Bonding Epoxy, part # 12345726
Roof Panels--- Adhesive Caulking Kit, GM part # 12345633

As Mike mentioned, an automotive paint store should have something that works as well. If all fails, go to a boat yard and get the adhesive used to patch holes in boats, problem once it sets it has to be ground to remove it.

Nice guys in the body shop! I think the easiest thing to look for is to ask a paint store for either a "Truck Panel Adhesive" or "SMC Adhesive". I remember the 3M we used was reffered to as truck panel adhesive.
