DF Center Force Clutch???
I installed a dual friction center force clutch yesterday with a aluminum fidanza flywheel well before I installed the clutch I called the tech line cause the dual friction clutch has a yellow paint dab on the pressure plate that has to be bolted to the x mark or white paint dab to the stock flywheel well since I'm not using the stock flywheel the tech at centerforce told me I had a 1 and 6 chance to bolt it up right WTF!! well I told him about the weight on the back of the flywheel and he told me to bolt the yellow paint dab as close as i can to the weight so i did and well i have a small vibration in 1st gear!!! can someone give me some ideas on what to do I don't want to keep turning the clutch to find the sweet spot and it will be 5 more times till i do Lmao.....has anyone else had this problem with centerforce clutch??? my ride is a 95 Z28 if that question comes up
[8D] well i havent installed the set up you indicate i do question the first gear only vibration. is this vibration only occuring during clutch engagement to get the car going?? any vibrations when using the clutch to shift between gears?? try starting in second to see if you have the same problem. the reason i ask is i think you may have a clutch disc or flywheel surface problem and not a balance problem. kurt
$1000??? I paid $600 from Jegs but its the same price at Summit??? I couldn't tell you if its worth the money yet I just put it on but its heavy duty thats for sure, just getting the dam thing bolted on for the balance is my concern now I guess I will have to call around machine shops to see what they can do????
how much of a vibration is it? clutches is one of the few areas that ive had next to no experience with, but in my experience elsewhere if you ever go to a harder, less user-friendly performance part, things ride a little rougher. maybe someone can confirm this, but i would expect a little more motion after a new clutch. of course, i would expect it to not be obnoxious or worrisome
drop top i have not seen the intructions you speak of but clutch assemblys and flywheels are balanced independant of the other so im not sure where the matching up paint marks is gonna be a help, and like yourself the use of an aftermarket one kinda negates that whole idea.your continued description of the sympyoms leeds me even further away from a clutch balance problem and more like a friction surface problem. was the flywheel you used brand new?? or was it freshly surfaced?? have you gotten to the recommended break in period on the clutch?? a balance problem will always be present it wont come and go and wont be there only under certain conditions.
maybe try the tech line again to see if someone else may be more helpful or you could call some machine shops but i dont know if many of them are set up to balance flywheels and or clutches? kurt

factory flwyheel. When you remove the weight, it becomes zero (neutrally)
balanced.
So tomorrow I'm going to remove the dust cover from the bellhousingand remove the weight from the backflywheel and see what I get hell its worth a shot before I have to tear down again...Also I fell vibration in my clutch pedal when I'm driving down the road I'm not pushing it in or anything I'm just resting my foot on it...
[&:] usually flywheels/ flexplates all by them selves are balanced with the addition of or removal of weight. this can then also be balanced to a crank and balancer, again some weight will usually be removed in this process and in almost all cases this will be independant of a clutch cover and plates as these can and will be changed out over time so one doesnt want to use it in the process plus it in itself should be balanced. so im not sure that the removal of a factory balance weight is the best idea, then again im not in the billion dollar aftermarket manufactuing biz. the removal of a weight would seem to me tend to make something off balance as the weight was there to make it balanced
is the feeling in the pedal a pulsation from having some pressure on it or a vibration ??

I really couldn't tell you if the pedal pulsation is from the pressure or vibration, but I did install a new clutch slave cylinder and it seems when I varely touch the clutch pedal in it stops and the car still goes without effect which makes me believe its due to pressure.
