Conv. top hydraulic hose leaked
Recently while lowering the power top on my 1969, I kind of had to help it to the down position and once there, I smelled a very wrong odor, hydraulic fluid. So I removed both the seat and backrest, and hit the switch for the top. Sure enough, a pin hole in the linewhere it curved up to the hydraulic cylinder had faultered. Itried to replace the line at a local shop, but he said he could only help me with a repair. My replacement hose kit arrived today andI was looking for advice of the kind of hydaulic fuild to replenish the pump, hose and cylinders. If there is a special technique for filling these components, such as removing any air in the system, that wouldalsobe very much appreciated.

when i replaced my pump motor on my 56 i raised the top by hand and just filled it with tranny fluid , then when it was full i just raised it back and forth a few times and filled it again, it worked for me, and do you really drive with the top up in that classic?

Yeah...I'm happy to have a problem with such a classic, but, I did find some help. Details are posted under the 1st generation section. Got some really good advice and the top is working like brand new! Thanks to all who looked and those who responded.
