Default Blew my clutch and Tranny. Need suggestions

I have a 95 Camaro with an LT1 engine. I'm not to sure what it puts out currently but my buddy that works for GM and the guy I got it from thinks its anywhere between 400-450HP. It also has a 4.1 gearing
Just few days ago in a race my Clutch completly blew up shooting couple wholes into the transmission housing. The tranny itself is fine but there is 2 or 3 golf ball size holes in it. I know the clutch will definitly need to be replaced but does anyone have any suggestions about the tranny.
I live in canada but I'll prob be ordering from the US. Is it possible to weld it or would that be a horrible idea. I've been getting quotes like 1700 for a tranny and as a student I cant really affod that currently. I've also been getting quotes like $700 for the clutch. I also might need a flywheel but dont know untill the tranny is taken apart.
Does anyone know a company that sells this stuff at a good price or is this the norm.
Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Danny

Has anyone ever used a mcloed bell housing? i would like to go that route as it is cheaper than a used transmission.
