BENT Push-Rod!!! Help!!1
Is my recently rebuilt 350 motor ruined? 1 of my PUSHRODS are completely bent!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
my roller rockers weren't tightened down and when I started my motor for the first time, I drove it about 1 mile before pulling over because of a tinging type knocking sound that started to come from the engine.
A friend of mine was helping me get it going & he obviously doesn't know what he claims to know.
But my question is, since my pushrod is bent, is my motor ruined now?

RE: BENT Push-Rod!!! Help!!1
it shouldn't be. I've bent many pushrods and I have also ripped press-in studs right out of the head(never use them) and never hurt my engine
replace, adjust and smoke tires as necessary

Don't panic. Make sure all of the pushrod is there ( no broken pieces ) and replace it. Go back to the post on rocker arm adjustment and proceed. Since You bent 1 pushrod, You'd better look at all of them. Take the pushrod and roll it on a flat, smooth surface. It should roll smoothly. If it has any wobble to it, it too is bent and needs replacing.
