Battery relocation
#2
I don't have any handy pics of mine (not much thrilling in the trunk). I put the battery in a Moroso battery box, and it tucks in quite nicely on the right side upper ledge, almost against the quarter panel.

When I moved my battery to the trunk, I "temporarily" held the box in place with a couple of stiff rubber bungee straps. That was about four years ago.
If you bolt the battery box down, yes it will be very difficult to get the battery out. You won't get it without unbolting the box from the floor. My plan was to make a metal strap arrangement to hold the battery box in place. It doesn't go anywhere the way it is, but I do want to do it a little more "right".

You guys nailed my question exactly, I have a 69 camaro and was wondering the best trunk location for the battery as well and eyed up the ledge on the right side. Is that the preferred spot on these cars? How do you route the cable to the front the best and avoid header issues?

Here's what I did to both my cars to hold the box in place, but allow for easy battery changes. I took one of those 1.5" wide tie down straps with the buckle and bolted it to the trunk pan, then I sat the battery into the box and sat it on top of the strap.
After that I simply buckle the strap down around the box and cinch it tight. Holds the box lid on, and the box in place. Just release the strap to remove the lid, or the battery. Allow a little extra cable to let it slide out for removal.

That sounds like a good plan. I had been contemplating a hinge bolted to the box that would allow the box to tilt inward to allow for battery replacement also. Only dilemna with the hinge idea is putting holes in the box that is to be a seal of potential acid from leaking out. I suppose if proper sealant were used that would not be so much an issue.
