Auto/to 6 speed
Ok, So Basically I am looking at a 1993 z/28 and it has the Lt1 5.7l engine. But It happens to be automatic its at a price I don't want to pass up, So what I am asking is how much is it going to run me to put it in a shop have the automatic tranny pulled and have A 6 speed transmission put in. I want the basic transmission (Stock). Also in the qoute will you put in for the motor mounts and anything else I will need if some on with some mechanicall knowledge can do a little math for me and get me a rough estimate that would be great thanks a lot. Kris.

I looked in to it my self cuz my 96 has a automatic with problems. around my area i couldnt find a t56 for under $1500 and thats just the trany and the only ones i did find had over 150000 miles on them. i wouldnt unless u r hell bent on putting one in. and ur talking lots of money. cuz u will need a drive shaft, cross member, peadel assembly, and all the componets to go with a hydrolic cluch and thats just thepartsoff the top of my head that i can think of. and ur planing on having a shop do it thats going to be a lot of money in laber to

The questions you have remind me of my friend... He too is too lazy to call and get a quote and would rather me doeverythingfor him. For the money it will cost you to do it (unless you find a hell of a deal on one, and can get the work done cheap), you might as well just buy one with a 6 speed in it already.

RE: Auto/to 6 speed
1200-1500 is the going price for a rebuildable t56. About 20 hours labor all told and I would guess about 500 for all the parts you would need.
1500 tranny
1500= 20 x $75 labor
500 Misc: Petals, master and slave for the clutch, etc...
3500 total (and your tranny is not rebuit yet)
As a general rule the 6 speed cars sell for about 1500 more then automatics. Even if you got the car for free it would be cheaper for you to sell it and buy a stick.That is why many people ask what it would cost but few people do it.
