Default Another Problem...

Cars running and is timed right. However, it just isn't running right. There is a constant clicking noise coming from the engine. It accelerates pretty good until around 3500 rpm and then it takes a crap. Doesn't accelerate at all and kind of hesitates ataround these rpms. Anyone have any idea what this is?
It's a 1989 Camaro 305 5.0L TBI.

The clicking may be a rocker arm that needs adjusting. ora bad lifter, or even an exhaust leak. The fading away at 3500 RPM could be due to a fuel problem such as bad fuel pump or dirty fuel filter, a clogged air filter, or a clogged cat.

For rocker arms, how tight is it supposed to be? I've heard you're supposed to slowly tighten it until you feel a real little resistance, the go 3/4 of a turn tighter. Is this true?

[X(] thats close, you need to make sure you are on tdc for each valve you adjust this way. bring to tdc for given cylinder and rotate push rod with fingers and tighten rocker arm nut until a resistence is felt then tighten another 1/2 to 3/4 turn. 1/4 turn of the crankshaft will get you to the next cylinder in the firing order kurt

Thatis true as long as the lifter is pumped up. If you adjust the rockers when a lifter is collapsed, when the lifter eventually pumps up, the adjustment will be too tight and the valve will stay partially open.
