Ive been having problems with the alarm system on my 01 Z28 once i activate it after about 10 secounds it starts up honking and careing on till i put the engine key in the egnition. I recently bought a new alternater, after mine died on me on the highway, it fixed the problem but apperantly only temporary cause its started doing it again ive had it scanned a bunch of times but the only thing the guys at autozone show is that i emptyed out the cats. any ideas will be helpfull.

Are you using a keyfob to lock it? Check to make sure the door contacts are ok. We don't have a keyfob for one of our camaros and every time we unlock the door with the key, we immediately have to start it or the alarm goes off.

Default alarm issues

I was having problems with my alarm on my 97 camaro everytime I went to unlock the doors the alarm would go off and I wouldn't be able to crank it for like an hour even after i turned the ignition switch over it would make it worse I don't know how many times I got stranded somewhere b/c my car would completely lock down it was so embarrassing I ended up unplugging my horn so I got to readin the owners manual and it had a section on the sensor in the back well I got very ill and climbed in the truck and unplugged it I don't know if that fixed it or not but I haven't had any problems out of it since it might not be the same since yours is a newer model but who knows hope I was of some kind of help
