Now that I have had a good nights sleep and think about it, on the V8s', There were only carbs and TPI until 88 (or 87???) when they replaced the carb with TBI.

vamp,

If you think the carb is bad and you wnat to save money, you really ought to find a good local carb builder to re-furbish it. You could save $100-150 that way.

Find someone that knows carbs. Talk to your local racers and call around to your buddies and find out who truely knows the insides of one.

Sounds like if its leaking fuel it just needs to be taken apart and cleaned.

Just a thought.

i agree with ratmotor , if you can find someone that knows and i mean knows how a Q-jet works , have them rebuild it and say yourself some cash. if you can't and have to buy a carb. make sure you get a a spread bore carb and not a square bore. a square bore will not fit your stock intake. a spread bore has small primary barrels and huge secondary barrels , on a square bore they are all the same size. i love a Q-Jet when it's right...but when they are wrong they are very wrong.

If you have a mechanic friend get a kit and have him do it. If it does not need throttle shaft bushuings then it easy.I used to do them all the time and even got into doing a little tuneing of the secondarys.
Or if you go for a holley, the only good holley is a new one. And holley does make a spread bore replacment. Is your computer controled?

ok, today i went through 2 carbs. i took mine off and the the replacement. a new holley didnt fit, bout an adapter. there was a part on my manifold that was in the way of the fuel lines. so i took that back and got an edelbrock, where the fuel input is in a diff place. but there was another piece of the edelbrock that was hitting the same part on my manifold. took that back. so i have to order a diff one. a rochester model so that everything fits like the original. i got the first 2 carbs cause one of the other carbs that i had to order was discontinued at pepboys. and they didnt have it availible to order. but now im back at square one lol. again. i will order the carb tomorrow as i have to go to work now and make the money to order it. this is becomeing like a soap opera for a camaro owner lol. call it passion of the carb or sumthin. keep ya posted lol. oh after all the hassle of goin through carbs the pepboys manager was like " i just wanna hear it run now, all the stuff youve gone through on it."

ok, i got the new carb installed. its a reman. holley rochester model. almost exactly like my old carb. with a few differences. i can adjust the fast idle speed, and regular idle speed, and the fuel/air mixture. that being said, i can do that because. there is no TPS to connect to and theres another connecter that to the carb that i dont know what it does. now my check engine light is on. what can i do about that.since its not picking stuff up from those sensors. it stays on.

So you got the wrong carb. The other conector is for the air fuel ratio
