Default 94 LT1 with no heat and other cooling issues

I just bought my 94 LT1 2 monthes ago. i was having overheating issues wich led me to replace the radiator, upper and lower hoses, and replace the stock thermostat with a slp 160. I also pulled the knock sensor and the drain plug to completley drain the dexcool, and replaced with a new knock sensor and regular green prestone 50/50. Now the car runs a constant 170 or so when cruising and maby 200-220 when stuck in traffic wich is very acceptable, but i still have no heat and the overflow is filling upand the radiator is going low. the low coolant light came on once, i have checked the radiator multiple times and it is always about half a quart low. i have bleed the system multiple times and have good fluid coming out. So i figure i have to replace the heater core to fix the heat, but dont know what to do about the coolant, is this normal? or do i have a bigger problem like a bad head gasket? any thought or advice would be appreciated.

are you seeing coolant on the passenger side floor or under the car on the passenger side behind the front wheel? would be best to rent a cooling system pressure tester from the local parts store and do a pressure test on it. should be able to pressure up the system and find the leak that way. i had a hose leaking at a hose clamp but only leaked at certain times, never in the garage. i pressured the system and went around to all the hoses moving them, pulling and poking, and found a small hole by one of the clamps.
