2002 Camaro V8 5.7L Z28 35th ed (4th gen)
Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting in this forum. I'm hoping that someone can help me identify a noise that is occurring in my car. I uploaded two sound recordings. When I accelerate, there is a whining noise that gets louder and louder. When I slow down, the noise weakens and eventually stops. All of the fluids in the car are fine. Also, the noise seems to be coming from the driver's side.
The car is a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro 35th edition, V8 5.7L.
Here are two audio recordings:

^ at about 26 seconds you can hear it

^ short recording, but you can hear it get louder with acceleration.
I really appreciate all of your help! :-)

My first suspicion would be the alternator. Second would be power steering pump. Remove the belt and twirl all the pulleys, you're likely to hear or feel the offending noise maker.

Hi Craby, it appears to be coming from underneath the car on the driver's side. It's hard to tell where exactly the noise is coming from, but most certainly on the driver's side. Thank you for responding!

Thank you for responding! The alternator was replaced a few months ago, but I will definitely have that checked out.
It certainly could be the power steering pump -- the steering is a bit loose and I've been meaning to have that looked at as well.
Thanks again!

under would point to the rack, not so common fail but happens. also could be noise is traveling from pump to rack through fluid/hose. pump is a more common fail. also not so easy to get a good rebuilt pump some times. took three rebuilt pumps for me to get a good one.
