Ok, I will actually help Sick here. Your carb is to big for your application, unless your 305 is highly modded. I had a 650 on a 340 (an enigne actually built for racing) and it was more than enough, on a 305 it's probably overkill. And the tunnel ram is harming you, again, overkill for your application.

There, I added something valueable to the conversation. Happy??

More help. From your symptoms I would get an MSD coil and wires (I think just thier SRT coils are ****, heard good stuff about their other products) and gears. Sounds like the biggest bang for your buck.

Keep the tunnel ram since I saw your engine build online and it is built. One hell of an engine. Plus the carb is fine on there.

Good luck

I haven't seen his engine build, I was just going on the fact that people never choose to really build up 305's, they usually pick 350's. If it's a built 305, the carb may be fine, but I still think the tunnel ram is overkill.

just for the sake of being civil ... the only thing stock is the heads. its a 305 bored .060, 305HO flat top pistons, .480 lift 304 duration speed pro cam, msd pro-billet distributor, full length headers, holley 600 CFM VS. i replaced the weiand dual plane with the TR1-x tunnel ram and gained a second so i know that wasn't a bad move. i thought i was running 3:73 gears. had never pulled the pan and actually looked. took a peek last week and found 3:23. explains alot about my times. found a set of 4.11 and put them in today. got a mini spool coming in the mail. since the last time i ran it i've lost a couple hundred pounds, done away with all the belts and pulleys, and got the 4:11 and the locker. would like to see it turn a low twelve before i put slicks and nos on it. been ordering some nos parts off ebay. going to build a wet nos system for it. like the rearend build it will be a first. i don't know which gives me more pleasure. building it or putting my foot through the carb. sick

Remember Sick, only babies need the bottle. Go with an N/A car, and all excuses are out the window, lol!! (otherwise you will always hear, even if you don't spray, that you did, and without it you wouldn't have won, yadda, yadda, yadda. I get it all the time about my SRT, "if it wasn't for the turbo you wouldn't have beat me". Umm, if it wasn't for the turbo it would be a Neon, lol!)

Good job on knocking down those times, keep at it!! Your car would run circles aroun my Mustang more than likely. (the Mustang has the looks though, you have to admit that!)

And yeah, the 340 I had the 650 on was pretty stock. What a great little motor huh??

The long intake runners is just what your engine needs to boost the low end torque. Now you need to get it to the ground.
