I just got my 81 to the track last week..First time driving it ever, I went 12.065 deep staged by accident, then 2nd pass went 11.87 on a 11.96 dial in and broke out..

11.87@114 with a 1.78 60 ft...Drove it to and from the track 10 mins away..lol

It takes some getting used to an auto after driving a stick..I remember when I was running my Nissan 350Z with the 6 speed, it would go 10.9@138 driving it like I stole it.

When I went to the TH400 the first pass out it went 10.6@129 rolling off the line and short shifting the Auto..It actually felt slower than before because the ride was so much more calmer driving down the track..I actually felt relaxed and seemed like I had time to brew a pot of coffee as I was driving..LOL

Eventually coming off the trans brake the car went 10.0@138, and was actually less harsh on the drive train than the 6 speed if you ask me..I broke countless axles running the 6 speed, but when I went to the Auto, never broke again!!

Driving an auto form a stick is a bit weird at first, the RPM will seem to hang there unlike the stick. You'll almost think something is wrong at first if you never drove a racing auto..Very weird feeling to see the RPM's hang there, but keep accelerating..

The Powerglide is so idiotproof it isnt even funny, my 4 year old can drive it..One shift and done..Your buddy will love it..

I went auto in my Z cause I was tired of going from a 13.3 to a 10.9 run from pass to pass..lol

Hey, I just went to Etown last night, and it was EMPTY, you could have done 10 passes by 8pm!!! I did 2 clean passes, and wound up jumping my alternator and water pump belt The bracket was a bit tweaked and kept jumping when I revved..Got a new bracket on the way from Summit..

Anyhow, my first pass was 11.91@113 and a 1.71 60 ft with a cold motor, 2nd pass the car went 11.65@115.75 with a 1.70 60 ft!! Im slowly getting it dialed in for the 11.50 index class...

I played with the jetting a bit, and leaned out the primaries cause I was fouling plugs driving to the track, and then richened up the secondaries to give me fuel up top..Motor feels very strong..

I do have a nitrous kit on the way for those special occasions..
