Monoleaf or Multileaf Rear Springs?
Help
I am upgrading my rearend this winter. Among the various upgrades will be to replace the original old leaf springs. Do you guys recommend multi-leaf or monoleaf springs in the rear? I know the mono's are lighter, but I have also heard some downsides to them.
This is a street/strip car - mostly "street". Will be running about 11 second quarter mile times.
I am also considering installing those Caltrac bars at the same time. What are your thoughts on that please.
It's a 454 chevy - about 500 HP. Auto trans with 3.73 gear, 3000 stall converter.
thanks

You'd probably do better to run multileaf springs. Chevrolet tried it for a Year and realized that monoleaf generally wasn't a good setup for the street. I've seen it used both ways on a strip car with success.

what was it that "sucked" about them. Just curious.
I will probably go with multi-leaf but just wanted to know why the mono's "suck".

the monos "sucked" becasue for one, they raised up the ride, when i installed the multis i must have dropped about an inch nd a half, the handling difference was immediate, the car used to sway badly, have wheel hop, nad bottom out often with the monos, i have had the multis for over a year now and have had no problems with them

I love my multi-leaf springs. Leafsprings = less axle wrap yet more wheel hop. Are you going to use a sway bar or go with traction bars? Multi leafs handle better, last longer, are safer, and it just works better.
