Curious
at first i thought it would be a drivers race, but i think if he's running stock again, i could get him with a few mods.. like i also said in the post, he aint that good of a dirver. wasnt really trying to argue with him, i know he knows his ****.
Ok so your saying 600-850 for the turbo its self not the kit.
thank you... Your still going to spend around 1800 bucksin just parts and thats if you go cheap or used. There are some places that do make budget ion kits and itwill save you alot of crap. If your keeping as a DD folow specters lead and dont spend a lot of time and money on it have a little fun and take it easy on it. Then save your cash and before you know it you will have your dream ride i am guessing a LS1

i was thinking just the turbo cuz i know a guy, well my mom does, that would do the pipe bending and what not free of labor, i'd then just have to get it installed and tuned, but also, i found a procharger kit for this car for i think it was 2200. i wanna have it be a DD, but a fun car to drive at same time, im thinking like a mid-high 14sec car.. that shouldnt take that much. around 200WHP, and im guessing it's around 130-140 atm (just like the f-bodys, the 2.2 ecotecs, well all of them, were underrated from factory, they've proved it's more like 165-175 they do at the crank)
The 2JZ is a big goal. Not Only is the twin turbo supra a high price car but they are hard to finance because they are so old. Plus finding one in good condition and in your price range isn’t easy. As soon as you turbo any vehicle thats not meant to be it because ahighercoastcar. That means you don’t get to save as much for your bigger projects. Plus you start having wear issue with the clutch and other where parts. I think the 2.2 ion is rated at 140 horse’s but they do dyno around 120 before I think the highest I have ever heard of was 131 so they could be a little under rated however not sure about 175.
96yenko, you cant come on here with times you found on the internet and exspect to beat him becuase of it. Magazine racing doesnt mean anything, me an crb600 have both seen how these cars run in person.
As long as he can drive his car, he will beat you.

ive seen a couple of decent looking 2JZs, with "stock" engines (cuz they're on there 2nd or 3rd engine) go for 15-20k... also saw a 600HP one go for 16k once, i thought i was gonna cry[X(]
I’m not trying to discourage you from what ever you want to do. If that’s what you have your heart set on then does it. But if your goal is to buy a do a build on a different platform all you are doing is distracting your self from that goal. One thing you also have to think about you can drop around 3-4K on a turbo kit for the ion and make your power goal. However you are still going to be losing to bolted SRT-4s, modded SS’s and any over a LT1 on the v8 side. With the cash you saved that’s a good down payment on all the vehicles you listed. Once again not trying to discourage you from your goals just trying to help. If you have any questions or if I can help with any thing fill free to ask.[sm=smiley20.gif]
Take it from someone that's boosted an N/A I-4 the right way. It ain't cheap or easy. The average stock engine will only hold about 160% of it's stock power rating before it pops. Give or take depending on the engine. The turbo itself is the cheap part. You slap a turbo on, then you have to tune fuel because the stock system just isn't designed for anything more than atmospheric pressure. Then you have to tune timing because a pressurized intake charge burns much faster than a charge under vacuum. Then you suddenly have to monitor all kinds of stuff that you didn't before. I have about $1000 just in gauges in my car. Then there's drivetrain. I've blown 3 transmissions so far. One that can handle tons of power just won't bolt up to anything else in the car. I keep extra axles with me at all times when I go to the track. They are disposable to me. It's abnormal if I go to the track and don't break at least one.
If you want big numbers out of a factory-N/A I-4 car, be prepared to spend 10k, and be happy if you end up spending less.
