Will a Pontiac 403 fit in a 1978 Camaro?
will a Pontiac 403 bolt up in my 1978 camaro RS? I read a couple of posts on another board that said motor mounts on a pontiac is higher than anything on a Chevy. Another one said it would bolt right in. Who's right? It's from a early 80s model pontiac bonneville. I would like to build the engine if it is worth the trouble. ANY comment or advice will be appreciated. Thanks guys

yes the bolt ups are different but i think you can still do it. You might wanna consider the fact that there might not be room for a 403 in there anyways.I might be wrong but dont the 78's come with 350's? you might be able to only fight like a 383 or something like that with out getting more room from a hood or something like that.

pontiac motors back then did not belong to gm, you might, might not have to change the mounts, they make the mounts to bolt in on your old ones and bolt up to the motor, check classic restorations mags or sites, ask around to make sure

If I am not mistakin the starts are on differnet sides as well Youalso need to use the 403 motor mounts and the chevy frame mounts to fit it in. It will fit in the car just extremely hard to work on it once it is in. Why not consider a big block chevy or a hi-po small block? It will cost about the same after all said and done.
