Stuck belt tensioner causing overheating?
I am getting my wife's '96 3800 V6 Camaro back into running order. It had been sitting for nearly 2 years, with only the occasional start-up. When it was last being used it started having a problem overheating. (Without the time or money to fix, it was put away)
I've changed just about every fluid & filter, PCV valve, thermostat, radiator cap and a broken fuel line.
When I went to change the drive belt, the tensioner pulley was completely stuck, and I cannot remove the belt. (I put a good amount of force on it, but did not go all out with breaker bar and cheater pipes, for fear of breaking something)
The engine is still overheating. I was starting to look towards the water pump and/or radiator as problems, but I started to wonder if the belt tensioner could be causing the problem. Thoughts......?
