Default Opinion on Ebay engine

I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I posted incorrectly. I've been keeping my eye out for a good used 350 for my '68 vert. I don't need one yet but I also don't want to pass up a good deal. I found one on ebay that is close to my home. Any opinions? I'm either going to rebuild this as a 350 or I'm going to convert it to a 383. Not sure yet. The owner doesn't have the casting numbers. It is in a 88 Jimmy and he says it is the original engine. Would this be set up for a mechinical or elecronic fuel pump? Is it eaisly converted to a manual if it is electonic?

Any opinions on if this would be good canidate for my '68 would be appricated.

thanks
Eric

if it is what he says it is ... a good rebuildable motor it's not a bad deal. your only worries would be if it has been maxed on the bore which i doubt or if a rod has punctured the block and it has been temporarily sealed which is not unheard of but i doubt. keep in mind you most likely won't be building it as a 350. if it has never been bored you will want to bore it .030 over which will leave you with a 355 c.i. . all 350 blocks have mechanical fuel pump housing so no problem there. if it is electric it will have a removable plate where the mechanical fits. hope all goes well with your build. just remember ... if it don't go fast you just haven't spent enough money yet. LOL . sick
