Oil additives

RE: Oil additives
It's all hype, there is no mechanic in a bottle, the only way to increase compression is to improve the seal in the cylinders, use tighter chambered heads, deck the heads and/or block, or use thinner head gaskets. Anything you pour in is not going to magicaly machine and install new rings and pistons in your motor. Please don't fall for that BS.

It's just that I heard people swear by it, saying that it stops oil consumption and makes the motor run better but it has to be used regurarly to keep the benefits. I'm not expecting some magic liquid that will make the engine run like new though.
As long as no harm can come out of it I'll give it a try, I don't suppose this stuff can do any damage?

I ran restore through 6 oil changes on a 76 C10 truck I had, and it never improved it still burned oil and ran like sht. Hopefully you have better luck that I did, but, I doubt you'll notice much improvement.

RE: Oil additives
It depends on the extent of damage of your engine. Restore WILL improve compression, but only if the ware is up to a certain point. It won't FIX anything, but it will help. It fills in the gouges in the cylinder engines. It does help keep the gaskets lubricated and from drying out. **** I got bored one day and just bought a bottle of every type of additive to equal 5 quarts and put it in my van. It ran the 3,000 miles no problem.

RE: Oil additives
I have used "restore" product before but didn't see any BIG changes it fetl like it drove better but it was more than likely just me thinking it was.lol The best thing I can tell you is to start using the Lucas Oil products in your car I use the oil stabilizer and noticed my car isn't running as rough as it used to. My mechanic suggested it, just replace 1 quart of regular oil with 1 qt. of this stuff. Heuses it in his drag car and tears down the engine after so many runs and said he can hardly hold onto the parts they are so lubed. So just try that out if you want , hope it helps.
