Default Gear Ratios?

Hey guys hope this is the right spot for this, and if it isn't sorry about this. I was wondering if anyone could give me just a brief general description on how the gearing goes?? Is it the lower the gear, the better bottom end, and higher gear more top end? And what would work for an everyday driver with the ocasional race maybe once or twice a week??? Thanks alot you all, sean.

It would help if you supplied a little more info. Such as what car, engine, tanny and present gear ratio.

Ok, that helps. You are getting a LHO V6 with 140 HP & 180 @/ft TQ and with the 700R4 and open 3:23 10-bolt rear. This a transportation and NOT A performance model.

The 3:23 gear ratio is very good one for street & highway driving and will give good mileage.
