fuel gauge and hard starts
hi everyone, this is my first post... so i really dont know what to write however i have a having a few small issues with my 95 z28. It has a worked jasper crate engine, and a few other mods so im around 380 hp. my fuel gauge is always inaccurate, when i fill up it only goes to like 7/8 and it will just say what ever it wants to say, i am also having hard starts. my question is will a higher gph pump and a new sending unit fix these proplems, or is there an easier fix?

RE: fuel gauge and hard starts
When you say hard starts do you think it might be because it's flooded? When it cranks does it blow a lot of dark/blackish smoke that slowly goes away?
Also, your stock fuel gauge might just be going bad. If it was an aftermarket one I could suggest you might've gotten one that reads the wrong ohms rating.

so it would just be the gauge.. not the sending unit?
no theres no smoke but it doesnt turn over, somedays it will be perfectly fine but when it is a little colder outside it seems to have trouble

Sorry for the long time before the response. Totally missed it. Are you still having problems?
The gauge would be a simple of test with an ampmeter and checking the ohms at a full tank and almost empty. If you're within tolerances for your year model then you know it's the gauge.
Well if it's just doing it when it's cold outside it could be that it's just the fact that it's a carbureted car. Does it have an electric choke? Also, does it have the stock manifolds with a heat riser?
