ok I will take your work on it, but that dosent really add up. Camshaft lifter kit 200 bucks on summit and I can get rebuilt heads for $350, and an intake for around $150. That's 700 bucks and I will do all my own work. That's prob the most I will spend. I've seen cams and lifter kits on craigslist for 100 bucks or less and I can get heads for 200 and rebuild them myself if they need to. A couple of grand would only make since if you took it to a shop and they did all your work and bought all your parts. I know better then that on cost.

You never mentioned if you were having a shop build it, my prices were based on that, you mentioned the lifter kit, heads, and intake but what about the camshaft itself? How much were you going to spend? As I recall, your budget is around a grand

Sorry camshaft and lifters for $200 on summit. You need to check your prices before you start posting stuff on here like you know stuff.

You only mentioned lifters, maybe you should put more detail in your posts. Good luck on your build, glad I could help.

Head gaskets $60. Intake gaskets, bolts, all the small stuff adds up.

for 900 dollars he will be lucky to just get the cam and heads running, and that leaves u with a crapy flat tappet cam and lifters, obviously he never priced the cost of valve springs wich he will need cant reuse the factory ones if wanting that much horsepower,he might get away with one step larger than factory cam without a spring swap and what about new valves for the bigger lift cam, theres more to it than u think.

I'm the biggest cheapskate there is, I tried. There is not a cheap reliable way to build an engine. You can go cheap, but stuff adds up quick, then it may fail. Then you get to do it again.

Yeah, bargaining isn't always better. This doesnt have anything to do with the engine but I had alot of money (at one point, lol) and my fuel pump went out, bought a cheap $40 ebay one, did the trap door method, and to this day it has that -high pitched fuel pump failing sound- Now I have to save up to get a new one.
