Default Egr valve

I have a 86 camero i picked up for 500 bucks.. it has a 79 350 olds in it... why u may ask? i have no idea... i put a 600 cfm edlebrock on there... i got pissed one day and ripped my egr vale off... why u may ask? it was the beer... but i put a new one on and i dont know where to hook up the vacuum line... it was never hooked up in the first place when i bought it... i dont know where you plug it into... i have the distributor timing advancement hooked up.... but the real problem is when ever i gun it from a low idle it back fires up through the carb... i believe the timing is out.. but i doubt it... any ideas?

Default RE: Egr valve

The backfire could be a couple of different things. Namely timing is off, other causes ... flat cam lobe, burnt valve, bent push rod. The last 305 i bought backfired that way and it had a flat cam lobe. A way to check is by removing your valve covers and coil wire ... spin it over and see if all the valves are opening. As for the egr valve your better off without it but, if you must ... just plug it in to constant vacuum. Sick
