Dart Heads

Dart Heads
I have been hearing alot of talk about Dart heads and have been wondering what makes these heads better than Edelbrock or Brodix heads. Why not pay 100 to 200 dollars more for dart alunimum heads over the heaver iron or iron platinum?

RE: Dart Heads
Dart heads have a higher intake runner flow as opposed to the Edelbrock. They have the larger 2.02" intake valve and the design of the combustion chamber has a more efficient burn sequence. Aluminum has a higher rate of transfer for heat too. Are you looking at the assembled head or the bare heads? Darts use dual springs instead of edelbrock's singles. The valves are are supposedly a better quality too. I personally went with Dart heads because they have the 49cc cumbustion chamber. That raises the compression ratio nicely!

RE: Dart Heads
The iron eagle platinums supposedly have better flow characteristics than the pro 1 the pro 1s have not been updated yet. The iron heads are heavy, theoretically the iron heads are supposed to be able to produce more power but I havnt seen that proven. Once ported brodix is a very good head one of the best(check out what alot of the $30,000 sprint car engines have on them). AFR and Canfield are also very good. I have a set of Iron Eagles platinums nice heads but after lifting them out of the box I kind of wished I went with aluminum, mine have 2.08 intakes.

RE: Dart Heads
Thanks guys, I will probibly use some Dart heads when I rebuild my 350. Still not sure which I should use iron or alunimum because they both have their drawbacks and positive sides.
thx

RE: Dart Heads
I've used both on customer engines. I've had really good luck with both Iron and aluminum. It's just a matter of personal preference. I'd stay away from the big runner versions ( over 210 cc ) for a street car. The best seems to be the 210 on a 350 or 383.
